An Information-Theoretic Perspective on Interference Management

چکیده

Two competing paradigms of interference management are introduced via a few recent developments in network information theory. In the first “distributed network” paradigm, the network consists of autonomous cells with minimal cooperation. For the corresponding mathematical model of the “interference channel,” advanced channel coding techniques are presented, focusing mainly on the sliding-window superposition coding scheme that achieves the performance of simultaneous decoding through point-to-point channel codes and low-complexity decoding. In the second “centralized network” paradigm, the network is a group of neighboring cells connected via noiseless links. For uplink and downlink communications over this “two-hop relay network,” two coding schemes in a dual relationship—noisy network coding and distributed decode–forward—are presented that achieve capacity universally within a finite number of bits per degree of freedom.

Multiuser Cognitive Radio Networks: An Information Theoretic Perspective

Achievable rate regions and outer bounds are derived for three-user interference channels where the transmitters cooperate in a unidirectional manner via a noncausal message-sharing mechanism. The three-user channel facilitates different ways of message-sharing between the primary and secondary (or cognitive) transmitters. Three natural extensions of unidirectional message-sharing from two user...

Approaching the Capacity of Multiple Unicast Networks

In today’s wireless communication, interference has become the main factor limiting the data rate. Our aim is to understand the role of interference in wireless networks from an information-theoretic perspective. Recently, several coding schemes are developed: noisy network coding and its variant with short messages extend the classic compress-forward to general relay networks; interference ali...

An Information-Theoretic Discussion of Convolutional Bottleneck Features for Robust Speech Recognition

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have been shown their performance in speech recognition systems for extracting features, and also acoustic modeling. In addition, CNNs have been used for robust speech recognition and competitive results have been reported. Convolutive Bottleneck Network (CBN) is a kind of CNNs which has a bottleneck layer among its fully connected layers. The bottleneck fea...
